Auf der Trauerfeier meines Onkels sprach der Pastor zwei Gebete, die mich berührt haben:
Prayer
Lord of all worlds
We bless you for all who have entered into their rest and entered their Promised Land, where they will see you face to face.
Give us grace to follow in their footsteps, as they follow the footsteps of loved ones before them. As we all follow the footsteps of your dear Son.
Keep alive in us the memory of those dear to us, whom you have called to yourself.
Grant that every remembrance, which turns our hearts from things seen to things unseen, may lead our thoughts always up to you, until we come to our eternal rest; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Commital Prayer
We give back to you, dear Lord, your servant Hans.
As you did not lose him in giving him to us, nor do we in his returning.
O lover of our souls; life is eternal and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon, and nothing save the limit of our sight.
Lift us up, strong Son of God, that we may see further; cleanse our eyes that we ma see more clearly; and draw us closer to yourself, that we may know ourselves to be closer to our loved ones.
Prepare for us also, Lord, that happy place, that where they are, and you are, we may be for ever more. Amen.
